SOL YACHT: A PERFORMANCE-FIRST REFIT

Sol was losing charters to faster, sharper vessels. Its hull drag had increased, efficiency had dropped, and its exterior no longer reflected the quality its owner knew Sol could deliver. Years of steady use had left marine growth on the hull and dulled the stainless fittings. In Dubai’s charter market, that’s enough to lose bookings. Our brief: restore Sol’s speed, sharpen her presentation, and return it to competitive standard.

THE YACHT REVIEW

We began the refit with a review of Sol’s hull. Marine growth had accumulated across the waterline, creating drag that affected speed and fuel economy. The owner had noticed the difference in operating costs first, then in how Sol handled compared to newer vessels in the fleet.
Above the waterline, stainless steel fittings had lost their reflective clarity, and the finish that once caught the eye of guests now looked flat and worn. The decline wasn’t dramatic, but it was steady, and in the charter business, steady decline costs bookings.

ANTIFOULING

We stripped Sol’s hull completely, removing all organic material and old coatings down to the gelcoat. The surface was smoothed, cleaned, and prepared for a fresh antifouling system designed to cut drag and resist marine growth.
The coating creates a barrier that prevents organisms from attaching to the hull over time. This protection extends the intervals between major hull work, keeping Sol operational and reducing the frequency of dry-dock visits. For a charter yacht, that means more days on the water and fewer interruptions to booking schedules.

STAINLESS STEEL POLISHING

Next, Sol’s stainless steel rails, fittings, and deck hardware were polished by hand until reflections came back sharp and consistent. Each surface was worked in stages: cleaning, buffing, and finishing, to restore the brightness that had dulled over years of exposure to salt and sun.

While polished fittings make a great first impression on guests, it also helps protect Sol’s structural integrity. The work restores the protective chromium oxide layer that prevents rust and damage. On charter vessels where fittings endure constant handling and spray, proper maintenance extends lifespan and keeps presentation sharp between service intervals.

DETAILING

Beyond the hull and stainless steel work, Sol received attention across every visible surface. Joins were refined, edges were sealed, and the yacht’s profile was reviewed for consistency. These adjustments don’t announce themselves, but they contribute to the overall impression of a vessel that’s been thoroughly maintained.

Each detail was checked and corrected where needed. The work ensured that Sol’s appearance matched the quality of the hull and exterior restoration—sharp, cohesive, and ready for charter service in Dubai’s competitive market.

PRE-LAUNCH INSPECTION

Before Sol returned to the water, every element of the yacht refit was inspected under direct light. Hull coatings were checked for uniform coverage, stainless steel surfaces were reviewed for finish quality, and protective compounds were tested to confirm seal integrity.

Only after full clearance was Sol approved for launch by our team and returned to charter operations in Dubai. The inspection ensured that the work met the requirements for both performance and presentation before the yacht left the facility

SOL'S RETURN TO SERVICE

Sol has returned to charter operations fully restored. Her hull is protected, her exterior polished, and her presentation sharp enough to compete in Dubai’s charter market.

This refit reinforces Alfa Trust’s approach: restoring yachts that perform reliably, look exceptional, and deliver the quality expected across the UAE’s leading charter fleet.
